Privacy Policy

Kickoff is a focus timer for iPhone and Apple Watch, made by Chelodo B.V. ("we," "our," or "us"), a company registered in The Netherlands. This policy covers the Kickoff app. It does not cover the chelodo.com website.

The short version: Kickoff collects no data. There are no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs. We cannot see who uses the app or what they do in it. Kickoff's App Store privacy label is "Data Not Collected," and that is the whole story. The rest of this page explains where your data lives and how it moves between your own devices.

1. What the App Stores on Your Device

Kickoff stores two kinds of data, both on your device:

• Focus sessions: the optional title you type, start and end times, durations, pause and park events, and the optional note to future you.
• Settings: timer lengths, sounds, theme, and similar preferences.

This data lives in the app's own container, shared with Kickoff's widgets and watch app through an Apple App Group. It is never sent to us. Deleting the app deletes this local data.

2. iCloud Sync (Optional)

iCloud sync is part of the paid unlock and can be turned on or off in Settings. When it is on, your session data syncs through the private iCloud database (CloudKit) that belongs to your own Apple Account. We have no access to it. Apple processes it under your Apple Account, not for us.

Turning sync off keeps your data local. You can remove iCloud copies in iOS Settings under iCloud > Manage Storage, or by deleting the data through your Apple Account.

3. App Blocking and Screen Time

App blocking is an optional paid feature. It uses Apple's FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity frameworks with individual authorization. That means you manage your own device only. Kickoff is not a parental control app.

The apps you choose to block are stored on your device as opaque tokens. Even Kickoff cannot read them as app names, and they never leave your device. Blocking applies only while a session you started is running. Kickoff does not use Screen Time data for any purpose other than blocking the apps you chose, for the duration you chose.

4. Notifications

All notifications (session end, re-entry reminder, rest end) are local. They are scheduled on your device and never come from a server. We send no marketing notifications. The only background push involved is Apple's own silent iCloud sync signal, and only when you have iCloud sync turned on.

5. Apple Watch

Session state travels between your iPhone and your Apple Watch through Apple's WatchConnectivity. It is the same data, moving between your own devices. No third party is involved.

6. Purchases

The one-time unlock is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive your name, payment details, or Apple Account. Apple sends us only anonymous, aggregate sales reports. Refunds go through Apple.

7. Support Email

If you use the Contact button in the app, it prefills an email to [email protected] with the app version, build, iOS version, device model, whether the unlock is purchased, whether iCloud sync is on, and the Screen Time authorization state. All of it is visible in the draft and you can delete any of it before sending. Nothing is sent unless you send the email. We use your email only to answer your request.

8. Children's Privacy

Kickoff is a general-audience app (rated 4+) and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone, children included.

9. Your Rights (GDPR, CCPA, and Similar Laws)

We process no personal data on servers, because we have none. Processing happens on your device and, if you enable sync, in your own iCloud under your own Apple Account. There is nothing for us to access, export, sell, share, or delete on request. You hold your data: delete the app to remove local data, and manage iCloud copies through your Apple Account as described above.
